Perfume Giveaway Winners: Parfums Rétro Grand Cuir

I have the list of winners for Parfums Rétro’s Grand Cuir. Congratulations. [NOTE on 1/08/14 — There is an update with information on shipping below in the shipping section.]

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS & INCLUSION:

The giveaway was restricted to 50 people living in the U.S. (or with a U.S. address), and 10 people in the EEC. The only requirements to enter the drawing were: (1) to tell me your favorite leather scent; and (2) to give me your location so that I could put you on the appropriate list. A few people failed to do that last bit, or to respond to my follow-up question about their location. As a result, they were disqualified.

Those of you on that second list who are in the U.S. can contact Mr. Dame to have him send you the Grand Cuir. He is an extremely nice chap — far nicer than I am, in fact — and wants people to have the opportunity to try his perfume. However, if you are in the EEC, your names were not included in the drawing for the few perfumes available, and there is no other recourse. Sorry.

THE EEC WINNERS:

There were 27 entries for the 10 prizes available to those living in the EEC. I submitted the names to Random.org, and this is the result:

Grand Cuir EEC Winners

Congratulations to C, Dgambas, Maria A., Bruno, Esperanza, Alexandr, Ines, Martin, Alison, and Veni H!

WINNERS & EMAILS:

You have THREE (3) days to contact Jeffrey Dame at Parfums Retro with your shipping information. Please do not contact me, but send an email directly to: jeffreydame@parfumsretro.com.

Your email should include your screen name with which you posted on Kafkaesque, and your mailing address. Deadline is end of the day, Central Standard Time (CST)  or GMT-7 in the U.S., on Sunday, December 29th. If you are one of the EEC winners and you fail to contact Parfums Retro with your shipping information in the proper time frame, your prize will be given to the next person on the list. The contacting deadline is firm. No exceptions.

SHIPPING:

Parfums Rétro will send the prizes directly to the winners, and pay for all shipping costs. For those in the EEC, it may take a while for you to receive your prize, depending on your customs and postal issues. Neither Parfums Rétro nor I am responsible for items that are destroyed by customs or lost in transit for some reason.

[UPDATE 1/08/14 — Jeffrey Dame has provided an update in the comments below. He’s written:

“A hello to all the Grand Cuir winners. Your prizes are now ready to sent out to you, but I have decided to add an extra treat in addition to Grand Cuir: new scents I am working on which are not yet released. These additional scents will be available at the end of this week and the prize packages will mail out on Monday January 13th. You will receive Grand Cuir plus a second scent of either the new man or new woman scents. There is nothing I love more than fragrances I have created out there on skin. Enjoy!” ]

FINALLY:

I’d like to express my enormous gratitude to Jeffrey Dame of Parfums Rétro for his generosity, kindness and thoughtfulness in offering such a massive giveaway. I hope you will let either or both of us know what you think of Grand Cuir when you have the chance to try it.

  1. Oh yay! I’m truly excited to have one a sample of this. It sounds fantastic and I can’t wait to try it! What a great bit of news to wake up to. Thank you Kafka for organizing this and thanks to Jeffrey Dame for being so generous. I’m off to email him now.

    • I have to say, I think the perfume might be more to G’s taste than to yours. The opening is very masculine and herbal. But I don’t have a good sense of your own tastes, so I might well be mistaken. 🙂

      • My tastes can be all over the place, depending on mood. I do like a lot of the more masculine scents. I’m definitely looking forward to trying it and letting G try it too and see who wears it better. 😉

    • HI, I was wondering if you had received your sample yet? I haven’t and unfortunately, the emails I have sent thus far, (three) have gone unanswered. I am truly bummed. I know that this has NO REFLECTION on Kafkaesque.

      • Michelle, I’m so sorry that you’ve had such problems. Jeffrey normally responds immediately to things, so this is strange. I know a number of others have received their samples, so it is really a problem if you haven’t yet. I will look into it immediately. Is the email address that you use in posting to the blog the same one which you used to email Mr. Dame? Is it okay if I provide it to him in order for him to contact you? I won’t do that part unless I have your direct approval, but I will write to him immediately to alert him to the situation and to your post. Thank you so much for letting me know. Are you in the US, btw?

      • I will let you know, of course. I love leather note generally, as I said, I like Lonestar Memories but also The Cobra and The Canary or something “gentlier” as leather in Habit Rouge.

  2. OMG, that is amazing!! Thank you to Jeffrey Dame and Kafka for making so many people happy, me included. I just LOVE leather, am always on the lookout for another one. This year I’ve been using Cuir Ottoman quite often to get my fix. I can’t wait to try another leather, and from a brand that is unavailable in Japan. At last I got a Christmas present 😉

    • LOL at the last comment. You’ll have to let me know what you think, Cath. Birch tar leather is a *VERY* different sort of thing from the leather in some fragrances, but Cuir Ottoman has some of it. Not a lot of overlap between the two fragrances, though.

Grand Cuir is substantially more green, lavendery, herbal and Fougère-like at the start, plus it has aldehydes/soapiness instead of powder and sweetness. I’ll be curious to see what you think and how it works on your skin. If you are a hardcore leather fan in ALL its aspects, including birch tar, I suspect you’ll like Grand Cuir quite a bit. 🙂

      • I’m not shy of using “masculine” leathers so I’m pretty sure I will appreciate Grand Cuir.
About the Christmas Present comment: no kidding, I didn’t get anything. I spent eve all alone, had toast and jam for dinner (pathetic, right?!). Christmas is a regular working day here, so on the 25th, since DH was away on business, I had dinner with a friend. Two girls out on the town. Better than spending another day home alone.

    • Walter, you should be on the list if you have the US address of whomever is holding your Kalemat for you, as you had mentioned earlier, so I’ve updated the post to include your name on the US post. Again, that’s if you have the US address.

  3. Dear Kafka, what wonderful news!!! You are Santa to us all!!!! As well as Jeffrey Dame! Thank you both for your kind generosity.

  4. Thank you!!!! I’m so excited to try this scent! I’ve never encountered the brand before. And I was just saying that I never win anything…. Hope you have a great New Year! Glad to have found your blog this year.

  5. Thanks to you Kafka and to Mr. Dame for this generous giveaway. I am thrilled to try this.
    Happy New Years!

  6. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO YOU AND MR. DAME for the lovely and generous prize. It was a rather crap day in the weary world of child abuse and neglect and I was dragging myself home today….I am thrilled, as I never win anything!.
My birthday is coming up on the 14th and this is an extra special gift! I can’t wait!
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

  7. Wahoo, free wi-fi, gotta love it although since email has been spotty with my iPad mini, I won’t be checking personal email. I’m in the lull prior to dinner and I dare not take a nap. Anyway, I saw my name second on the list thinking that the randomizer picked me second until I read the post just now. Thank you for the opportunity and thank you Jeffrey for your generosity! I already emailed my mailing info yesterday.

  9. Hi all. Most of the Grand Cuir prizes [plus a bonus] are out in the mail, some have already been delivered. A few more to go. Everyone receives an email confirmation with tracking when their prize goes out. Thank you for your patience. Worth the wait, I am certain.

  10. I owe you both the world’s biggest apology-I am in Canada. When I realized my mistake i was embarassed. Hopefully the prize went to a qualified person-i didn’t mean to waste your time. And it was so generous of you!
i hope 2014 brings you lots of joy, and I look forward to reading more of your thoughts here.

    Sincerely,

    Carole
